i've been noticing for a while (pretty much since i opened my etsy shop) how biased the front page seems to be. the same sellers keep popping up over and over again, which isn't really fair to the rest of us. there are literally thousands of sellers on etsy, yet there is a handful that i see on the front page multiple times a week - even sometimes more than once a day.
so what can we do about this? well, probably not a whole lot. but we sure can try! this is by no means a new issue - if you read through the etsy forums and look around on the internet, people have been talking about it for a long time now. some people boycott, others just complain.
well instead of complaining (well, who am i kidding...i'll probably still do that too), i've decided to try and do something. i'm going to start making treasuries as often as possible that feature only sellers that have never been featured on the front page. to be considered for these treasuries, please leave your shop link in the comments below. obviously, i can't pick every shop at once, but i can promise that i'll try to feature almost all the shops at some point.
after i make the treasuries, i'll post them on twitter (twitter.com/jaykayknits) and also on my blog (so make sure you're a follower!) and facebook. now, here's where your job comes into play. to get the treasury noticed, the word needs to be spread! you can re-tweet it on twitter, post it on your blog, facebook - whatever! just help me get views, clicks and comments, because that will give it the best chance of making the front page.
now obviously, i'm not going to go back in time and check to see if your shop has ever been on the front page, so please be honest. if you have been on the front page, but it's been over 6 months since the last time you were on there, i'll accept your shop.
so here's to hoping we can get some exposure for more talented artists!
