I started knitting shortly after we moved to Portland because I was working at the local Boys and Girls Club and got involved with a knitting group that was started at the BGC. It was a blast learning how to knit along with the kids - even some boys!
Although I technically learned to knit in Portland, I didn't really get serious with it until we moved to Athens and I found myself with more free time than ever. With the economy the way it was, and Athens being a college town with limited job opportunities, I was only able to find a part-time job, leaving me with hours to fill every day, which was something new to me. I joined Ravelry (username jaykayknits), and it opened up a whole new world of knitting to me!
This past April I decided to open up an Etsy shop, which has been pretty slow moving so far. I do, however, feel like I am slowly starting to understand the ins and outs of the website, and hope business will start to pick up soon. If only there were more hours in the day!
Enough about me.......I'd love to hear about you! Nice to meet ya!
Oh my gosh, we have so much in common. I've been a member of Etsy since January, but opened my shop in April as well. It's been pretty slow for me too. Sometimes I get so discouraged I want to close it up and forget the whole idea. But that's not me and I hear to be prepared for Christmas (fingers crossed). I have two daughters and one son who learned to knit at our local BGC. I have three girls and two boys, my fiance Matt has a boy and a girl and we have a little boy together -- so 8 total and never a dull a dull moment. I'm so glad to meet you. My shop is sewendless.etsy.com and my blog is sewendless.blogspot.com, which is pretty new too.
ReplyDeleteGreat post! You can write about yourself just fine! LOL But I know how you feel - I would rather write about someone else than about myself too!
