Nice to meet ya!

I suppose if anyone reads this, they may want to know a little about me. Now, talking about myself has never been one of my strong features, but I'll give it a little shot. Born in Texas, moved to Asheville, North Carolina shortly thereafter, and consider it home. Graduated in 2006 from Appalachian State University, and moved to Portland, Oregon 8 months later with my now husband (who is also my best friend and biggest fan), Jake, to explore a little. We stayed there for about a year before we moved back to the south in August 2008 so that Jake could get his masters from UGA in geography.  We got married August 1, 2009 in Asheville (wedding photos here!!), and are currently living in Athens while Jake finishes up his degree.  I work at the local high school in the special education department, which is a very humbling and wonderful experience.

I started knitting shortly after we moved to Portland because I was working at the local Boys and Girls Club and got involved with a knitting group that was started at the BGC. It was a blast learning how to knit along with the kids - even some boys!

Although I technically learned to knit in Portland, I didn't really get serious with it until we moved to Athens and I found myself with more free time than ever. With the economy the way it was, and Athens being a college town with limited job opportunities, I was only able to find a part-time job, leaving me with hours to fill every day, which was something new to me. I joined Ravelry (username jaykayknits), and it opened up a whole new world of knitting to me!

This past April I decided to open up an Etsy shop, which has been pretty slow moving so far. I do, however, feel like I am slowly starting to understand the ins and outs of the website, and hope business will start to pick up soon. If only there were more hours in the day!
