Now that summer break is over and I'm back at work, I've recently been irritated at myself for not completing many knitting projects over the summer. I still have two sweaters on the needles, and have been itching to finish them. One is waiting on more yarn, and the other is waiting on me to get over "second sleeve-itis". The worst part about this is that it's not even a full sleeve. It's elbow length. Shouldn't take me long at all. I'm not sure what my problem is.
But I did, in fact, finish one thing. A honey cowl, knitted in Manos Silk Blend in a gorgeous raspberry color. I'm in love with it.
It's warm, incredibly soft, and will be perfect for the fall & winter. I omitted the stockinette rows at the beginning and end because I overlooked them on the instructions didn't want the ends to roll. Yeah. That's it.
Originally, I planned to knit until I used up both skeins. But after a trying it on while it was in progress, I decided against that. I preferred the way it fit. Plus, now I have 3/4 of a skein left to make some matching fingerless gloves.
The pattern was very simple, and a great way to use some stashed yarn (which I'm always trying to do). I definitely see this as a "go-to" gift pattern.
So now my attention turns to my sweaters. Unless I get distracted by something else.
Happy Labor Day!
Pretty! I love the cheerful color.
ReplyDeleteI have a honey cowl on the needles right now, in a merino silk from Three Irish Girls. The colors make me think of fall in Napa Valley - greens, golds, and some purples. It's so pretty! I need to get the darn thing finished.
Don't feel bad about the knitting! You're active, a wife, you work, and go to school. Knitting should be all relaxation for you- never another responsibility. I always look forward to what you are making. Your FOs are very inspiring. You're right, that cowl would make a great gift. It looks like good reading/ tv knitting.
